Search & Rescue Flying Tank: Prototype Mk1

With the reference from Ryan's concept drawing for the tank frame, i have drawn a 3D model of it on Autodesk Fusion360 software which is similar to Autodesk Inventor software. For the material for the prototyping, we decided to use acrylic sheets for the frame since it is lighter than carbon fiber as carbon fiber's density is heavier than acrylic's and acrylic is cheaper and easier to purchase compared to carbon fiber.

After I was done drawing the model on Fusion360, I have to save the frame design at a certain view that i want to laser cut as .dwg file as it is more accurate than saving as .pdf file. Once the frames are done after laser cutting, we started to assemble the tank frame.

When we have done making the F450 quadcopter to fly, we went for a flight test with the tank frame mounted on it. The video below will be how the drone flies with the uncomplete version of the tank frame.

As for moving on the ground, it moves well when it comes to moving back and forth, but there was not much tension in the tank tracks so we added a tensioning mechanism so that the tank tracks will have more tension. However the frames started to bend when we tried to turn it either left or right.

With these tests, I will improve the design structure so that it will be sturdier when it comes to turning.
