The actual parachute: The Safe Drones

The parachute was made from scratch from ripcord nylon. Any type can be used and we just got the cheapest ones.
The biggest size we could get was a 150mm x 150mm sheet so we just used that to cut a circle.
To do this, we first folded the piece of parachute into quarters to get the centre line and then from there we used a 80cm string tied to a pencil to create a compass for the circle of about 70cm radius.
Then we used a soldering iron to trace the outlines to create a heat seal because the rip cord will start to frail if it is cut by a knife or scissors.
We made about 8 small holes on the circumference of the parachute to tie our 550 paracord. Ideally the paracord should be about the same length of the diameter of the parachute.
A decently sized hole was made in centre to ensure that the parachute fell as straight down as possible without compromising air resistance.
