PREFACE: The Safe Drones
In the current age where drones are increasing in popularity and with more and more people getting their hands on drones, there is a need to ensure the safety of the operator, the drone and objects around the drone which include other people and infrastructure.
This segment reflects the process of creating safe drone attachments and modifications for the mass market which allows professionals and novices alike to have a safer and more enjoyable time with their drone. The product aims to be used by drone operators who want a safe and enjoyable flight with their UAVs and can be used a as a regulation item to comply with the Singaporean legal limits set by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the organisation in-charge of the Singaporean civil airspace, to regulate UAV flights in Singapore.
There is no doubt that there is a need for tighter UAV regulations especially for novice operators.
“Without proper training, even a drone weighing just 1kg can cause property damage and serious injuries. In this aspect, the Act does have some inadequacies” said Dr Foong Shaohui, Assistant Professor at the Singapore University of Technology, speaking on the current law which includes the restriction to fly drones above 7kg, or within a 5km radius of an aerodrome.
Stay tuned for updates on the safety attachments that we will be creating!
